Here are our top pictures from two days in the Mount Rushmore area. We visited the monument in the morning and again for the evening lighting ceremony. We also took the Can-Am on two scenic routes that border the area. The Needles Highway (named for the spires of rock) and Iron Mountain Road are the “twistiest” roads we have ever been on, and two of the most scenic. There are about a half dozen one way tunnels carved in the rock that are exhilarating to drive through.

Thanks for the update! Mt. Rushmore is one of my personal favorites. So glad you went to the lighting ceremony in the evening!!
Good to read about your travels and know that you are enjoying the journey.
