The other towns of Val Gardena offer similar but different views. Armed with a 3-day “all you can ride” gondola card and a hotel-supplied bus pass, we ventured forth to see Selva Gardena, the smaller town further up the valley. Farmer’s daughter Ellen was captivated by the haying process that played out on the steep hillsides, and we spent a long time watching them work. The pictures below include the field and a close-up of the workers.
We were both fascinated by the hang gliders that soared next to the peaks here, and we watched them take off and land. It is a photographer’s paradise.
Larger trams, same magnificent views Flowers like this are everywhere in the towns and on the mountain. Note the man working where the field meets the trees. Zoom picture of that same manual haying operation.
