When Ellen and I worked in Yellowstone as college students, the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody was a small, almost “mom and pop” type museum. The current massive, elaborately funded, Smithsonian-affiliated collection of museums is unrecognizable from those humble beginnings. It has become a type of “big box store” destination center, its five museums encompassing Wild Bill Cody, Plains Indians, Natural History of the West, Western Art, and Firearms.
Your admission fee allows you to visit for two days, and I do not doubt that people could easily spend that kind of time here. We spend a head-filling afternoon here and enjoyed it immensely. With my self-imposed limit of 10 pictures, I will try to give you an overall sense of what this place has to offer. It is professionally done and well worth a visit.
